VGA - HDMI or VGA - SCART

A friend of mine has an older TV and laptop, the laptop only has a VGA out and the TV only has SCART and HDMI in. VGA and SCART are analogue and HDMI is digital so one would assume that getting a VGA to SCART would be the best set-up, right? Any advice appriciated.

Use VGA to HDMI. But it won't be cheap. Dabs.ie have a converter for €130. Better off buying a separate USB graphics adapter with HDMI out, they cost only half of it.

You can get a vga to hdmi cable,i got 1 in radionics dublin,cost around 20 euros, in 2008.you may get one in maplins,
it would be better to get one of these ,

The vga to hdmi cable worked for me,but on some video cards it may not work.my laptop had just vga out, my tv has only
hdmi,in, eg no vga in.
the convertor should work ok, You will need a male to male vga cable to go from the laptop, to convertor unit,the first convertor on ebay link, has vga female port, so you,ll need vga male to connect to it.
vga cable 8 euro approx maplins.
IF YOU BUY any cable ,hold on to the receipt and packaging, in case you need to bring it back to the shop.

If you use scart you ,ll have to use 1024x768 Resolution ,graphics card
set refresh rate to 60mhz.

The best thing to buy is the vga to hdmi video convertor unit, if you can afford it,
