First off, mods if this thread is inappropriate please lock.

Basically I have a Mid 2007 24" (MA878LL) iMac that I am fairly sure is goosed. I want to run diagnostics on it to try to confirm but am unable to locate the original dvd's I got with the machine. Apple are charging over €40 for replacements. I really don't want to spend money on a machine I am fairly sure is beyond repair.

Can anyone sugest an alternative way to run diagnostics on the machine or would it be possible to borrow discs of someone with the same machine?

    Thanks for reading,
    Joe.

Since i'm not sure what kind of 'diagnostics' you are trying to run, I can only suggest pressing F2 before the startup sound. I'm not sure if that will work on your iMac however, but its worth a try

If this Mac has the original system on it, there is a posibility that AHD is in System/Library/Coreservices/.diagnostics. This is the same Apple Hardware Diagnostic test as on the OEM DVD. However if a retail system has been installed this folder will not exist and you will not be able to boot into hardware diagnostics.

Can you boot in single user mode?
