last weekend i broke a spoke at the end of a spin. it is broken at the hub end.

how do you go about replacing it? can you buy one yourself and fix or do i need to bring it into an LBS.

Also any reccomendations for getting bike serviced (Dublin location)

    Thanks

You need to know the length and the gauge. Fitting is straightforward on the left hand side but on the right you will usually need to remove the freewheel block/cassette.

As you just require one, I would take it to a bike shop and they will measure it and probably fit it and true the wheel afterwards. My local shop charges €5 for this service. Online, you may get them cheaper per spoke but you will likely end up with a box of 36.

I would be questioning as to why the spoke broke? Is the tension uneven on the rest of them?

The other spokes are fine they are not loose. is it ok to go for a spin with one spoke missing? wont get to a bike shop till monday

If it's a traditional 36 spoke wheel and is still true, I would say so if you're gentle on it. If it's one of the modern wheels with very few spokes, I wouldn't.

I've had single spokes break in wheels with no issues with the others. Factory built wheels often have widely varying spoke tension.
