    Hi,
    I was wondering if anyone could help me with what is happening my alarm. I Set it last night and a while later it started beeping ( not alarm beeping, slow beep) the fault light lit up and it says Dmc line fault.

    What is this? Is it easily fixed and most important will I still be protected with alarm ??

    Thx ;)

    Theres a problem with the digi text modem in the alarm which texts you in the event of an activation. Is your phone line OK?

    It is to do with the phone line more so that the dialer itself. If the dialer does not see the line voltage it will indicated the line fault.

    Thanks for the replies, I was thinking it could be the phone line but it texts me every time the alarm goes off. Going to get a technician out to look at it.

    If the system is set up for line priority and the phone line is down it would more than likely be an issue with your service provider. Depending on the phone point the line is taken from you can take off the front face of the phone socket and connect you phone direct into the socket. This will eliminate the dialer being the issue or the line itself.

    @altor,

    I have replaced my phone line with broadband phone from sky. However now I'm getting a fault (DMC) line and yellow light (HKC phonewatch system). Occasionally getting alarm going red (rare) any way to get past this so I can simply use the alarm without priority line? As phonewatch want to send engineer and ridiculous call out to reset the system. Does anyone know a workaround or reset without engineer call out?

    If the unit SKY use has an analog input on the back for the phone line then this may work by plugging your line to the panel into that but in reality with service providers moving to digital phone lines you would be better off upgrading the system to use a wifi and sim option.

    Not analog, also wondering if this can be switched without using a phone line and can I set the alarm with this fault on it?

    The panel checks the voltage on the line going into the panel, with a digital line the voltage is not high enough and will flag a fault. Also your alarm will not ring out if connected direct to this line.

    If the Sky box has a analog input so you can use your old house phone on it then the dialer on the panel should work using this but there has been issues so id advise upgrading to something with IP or sim for same.

    The alarm should still set with a line fault.

    Only way to clear the fault is either fix the issue or turn off the line monitor in the engineer settings.
