for 299 with heavenly heating and plumbing. Is this procedure recommended to improve efficiency and is it a good price? My latest gas bill was 310 euro for nearly 2 months. What does it entail exactly?

The problem with a power flush is it can sometime expose more problems. But yes it improves your bills but not enough imo to come down a lot from 300 euro

Whats your family circumstances.... For example i have 2 adult 2 child house and my heating is quite efficent and my gas bill was 400 euro for the winter 2 months.

A power flush would be done usually in response to a problem, if your not having a problem I wouldn't do it, a power flush on it's own can be a waste if a heating engineer isn't evolved as any problems not dealt with can result in sludge reappearing.

Quite a large 3 bed edwardian house built in the 1900s so not the best insulated, 2 adults one child. bill for jan 16 to march 13 (i think) was 308 with childminder using the gas on occasion during the day so I suppose its quite a good number really!

No issues except the third bedroom rad hasnt worked in a good while and I was told the system would need to be emptied to get it going again - its not a big issue as the room is rarley used anyway. I guess, is it worthwhile getting this done with the hope of the rad working again afterwards or better addressing it seperately? Also, my wife seems to think the plumber who installed our new boiler (bit of a cowboy) a couple of years ago put something (inhibitor) into the system that he never flushed out and she is concerned this could be causing damage?

The quality of the heating water determines if a flush is required as not all heating systems require a power flush, the purpose of the power flush is to remove any sludge (where possible) that is in a heating system improving circulation, a power flush is only as good as the person doing it and any benefits can be lost if the inhibitor left in the system after the flush is lost due to leaks or if the levels of inhibitor are not maintained over time.

Adding inhibiter to dirty heating water can lead to other problems down the road, inhibitor should only ever be added to fresh/clean water.

I would have someone look at your heating water to determine what actions are required, if you did have inhibiter added without any kind of a flush I would as a minimum empty the system, flush it with fresh water and start again.

You may want to look at what heating system controls you have as you may find savings with extra controls.

Sweetie. Try turning off all other rads apart from the one that's not working. See if it works then. It could be air or a balancing issue

That sounded weird calling you sweetie at the start :D
