Hi! I have been lurking on boards for a while but this is my first post.

I have returned to running after a number of years awayand have been running four or five times a week for the last 6 months. I can now cover 5k in a little under 21 minutes. I am looking to participate in a few races as I now want something to aim for. I am based in the midlands and was wondering if anyone could reccommend some races to get me started? Not longer than 10k please :D, maybe some 5k's or 5 miles that you might know of.

    Thanks,
    Alan

21 mins is a good starting point for 5K, it shoudl not take you long to get under 20 mins:

See the events thread for suitable races:

There is a 5K in Mullingar, a 10K in Athlone, another 5K series in Mullingar, 5Ks in Leixlip, Laois and plenty more all in the next two months. Check out runireland.com for more.

dna leri is too polite to say that its better to lurk on the events thread than to clog up the forum by having someone else look up the events thread for you ;)

Thanks a lot Dna_Leri. Hadn't actually seen the events thread before so cheers! Lots to choose from there! Will start with the Joe Dolan 5k in Mullingar on April 21st and then maybe do some of the 5k series in May also.

Good value for €10 too so hopefully I'll get close to 20 mins for it!!!
