Do not know why RTE sought not to mention this on news ? Colleagues at work said that heard nothing yet it was mentioned on radio .. Dare I bring in another thread that mentions this http://www.peoplesrepublicofcork.com/forums/showthread.php?p=4206556
Guy went crazy in the renal ward .. Attacked nurses first with fire extinguisher and then with iron bar .. Cut backs and not enough security allow this to happen . Why should nurses or god forbid patients be subject to this .

I'm not sure of how quickly he was subdued but you can't really blame cutbacks in this case. There are a lot of mentally ill people in hospitals, along with people on very strong medications and relatives under enormous stress. More money will not stop people resorting to violence sometimes. It's unfortunate, but I can see how it happens. Obviously, plans should be put in place to deal with these situations as quickly and safely as possible.

Not sure why rte didn't mention it. Perhaps they were asked not to if the man was a patient and the hospital doesn't want to take it further? I know there have been a few fights in my local hospital which didn't make the news.

Ya it could be true that RTE sought not to mention it because of reasons u gave however what ever about the guys reasons , he should not have been able to get access to a bar the second time round . From the radio he was supposed to be watched after the first stint. If there was only one watching I bet it was because the staff could not put a second one there.
