Anyone know whats going on with this? any plans to sort it out by next semester?

You can never get a connection on the WiFi after 10am around the college, really frustrating.

I always hear people complaining about it around the college so was surprised to see nothing on here about it.

Seems to depend on what part of the building you are in too. If you're any higher than ground floor, good luck to you. It usually takes me five or six attempts to connect to a one bar signal. Really annoying when you want to check something quickly and not at a computer (not that they are much better with how long they take to load up for the first time log in), you'd be better off heading home and checking it.

Hope they do something about it as it clearly isn't up to scratch.

Where abouts in the building are you trying to connect up and I can check it out. We have had no complaints about coverage recently aside from in 1 particular lab.

It's all over the college for me; canteen, library, labs (labs for me are mostly down the back of the college nearest the carpark).

It seems to be ok in the morning but as the college fills up, you can be stuck trying to connect for over an hour. Sometimes you're waiting to get bars on the WiFi (have tried moving to a different location and still had the same problem) and sometimes you have bars, but the bluesocket page wont load. Sometimes you get timeouts etc when connecting to the wifi too. Everyone I've spoken to has a similar problem. I guess we shouldve said something..!

Might it have something to do with the amount of smartphones coming into the college that automatically connect to the WiFi?

This for sure is an issue. I think the problem you are seeing is with BlueSocket and not the wifi itsself. We are working on this and will have a new system in place for September.

You could try connecting to eduroam as that gives you the same access out.

Will give that a go, thanks. Think I may have tried this before, might be mistaken though.

Tried eduroam today and had no joy getting a connection there either. same problem with the normal wifi too.

Did you set it up with the cert etc. or just try to connect ??

Just connected to eduroam and it asked me for username/password. Tried my X number and usual password and it seemed to accept them ok. Browser said "Unable to Connect to the Internet", though

Trying to connect on a macbook.
Thanks for those links. I'd never heard of eduroam. I came home to work on stuff as I couldnt connect or find a free lab, so will give it a go tomorrow.

Did you pop up to the IT helpdesk ? They will sort out any connection issues to the ITTDublin wireless.

As for eduroam - once it is set up once your done... anywhere in the world you see eduroam you can connect. It is a great service and well worth the one time effort to get it setup even if it's just to get free wi-fi in TCD or DIT as you pass by!

Have availed of the free WiFi on Pearse street!

BTW If you have a Mac and want to view the IADT and TCD documents, press the control key as you select one when the menu appears, chose 'save link as'.

Hey thanks, what login details did you use? have tried a few combinations of the obvious ones, but always get "invalid login".
