Switching to Ulster Bank - Overdraft?

    Heya,

I'm currently considering to switch to UB due to the changes with AIB. I have a 1k overdraft on my AIB account that I had to max recently due to bad circumstances (huge care repair and electricity bill).

Would it be possible to get an overdraft with UB as well as I won't be able to stand a month without it right now until I have slowly paid it back. I have been in employment for a year now and can present payslips and bank statements without a problem. I also have no other loans or debts.

I was also wondering if it would be easier to get an overdraft if I open a ufirst/ufirstgold account instead of a normal current account or does this not matter? Due to personal circumstances (only income in the household etc.) I can't save a lot atm so paying back the overdraft will take a few months.

    Thanks for replies!

    Yes is the short answer.

They are facility matching, well they have always offered that service.

I'd looking into the benefits of the ufirst account. You would get €500 interest free over draft with the remaining amount above that charged at the standard interest rate. However the account has a monthly fee but the are other features which may negate paying that fee like mobile phone ins etc.

Make an appointment and go through the process. If they match you overdraft then fine if not look elsewhere.
