I bought a leather couch about 4 years ago and even though it was hardly used (for the first 3 years anyway), the leather is flaking away quite badly. There are also a few rips which I'm not sure how it happened. Could any of you guys recommend a company/person to fix/recover this?

We where looking into recovering a sofa and the price quoted was more than a new suite. Guess what we did.

The sun will damage some leather seats. I've a recliner and 2 seater. The recliner is most used and near perfect. The 2 seater is starting to crack and peel. The 2 seater is exposed to the sun all day the recliner isn't. I bought cheapish seats and could have treated the leather more often.

It a shame really. We got the couch and armchair for cost which I have to say I'm glad about now. I was never told that it would need to be treated and probably wouldn't have bought it if I had been told. I think a new sofa is on the cards.

    Thanks for the reply

    Hi All

    Please help
I bought a couch in Reid Furniture in 2009 but unfortunately the box wasn't checked when it arrived. They are no longer based in Irl and the couch in question has been discontinued & no longer in stock - so no joy there.
The back of the 2.5 seater couch is the wrong size - i.e it fits a 2 seater.
Did anyone by any chance get the wrong size for their couch?

Name of Couch: Apache 2.5 seater recliner CAT 220/01.
    Colour: Colorado Chocolate.

Is there a furniture supplier who can source a similiar back for this couch? Any ideas would be most grateful.

    Thank you in advance.[/QUOTE]

A really good three seater leather settee would cost € 5-10 k
Any settee costing less then ¨€ 2 k is disposable.
    So a good € 5 k settee lasting 30 years would cost €167 p.a.
    while 6 x €2 k settees lasting 5 years each would cost € 400 p.a.
So buy the best that you afford; it works out cheaper in the long run.
