Hi I just got a new job and a few days after I started working my employer took my bank details and my pps, email and phone number. I'm just wondering is this normal procedure, do I not have to sign any documents or a contract like I've done for every other job??

You don't have to sign a contract, although a lot of companies have them more-so for there benefit. From my limited knowledge, a contract will set out specific terms like pay and holidays, but aside from that regular law kicks in for legal minimums etc without a contract.

I think the contract has 2 weeks before it has to be produced it ma be longer.

If you were my employee I'd be wondering why you went to a legal forum. He seems to have done everything correctly in that he got your pps and bank details so he may pay you and contact details.

Bank details, pps number, all that is normal, they need it to pay you. As for a contract, make sure you read it, they have to give you a written contract within two months of starting the job. Be aware though that these written terms are not a complete overview of the employment relationship.
