Anyone know a thing or two about fault codes...

    My 320i E90 2005 has codes 5DE0 & 5DE1

Mechanic has told me Ineed to replace the ECU and get the new one installed... I'm not quite sure on this yet..

Have done some homework and seems to be a recognised fault that can be dealt with but can't see where people are replacing the ECU?

Assistance here if anyone in the know has some

    Thanks

I doubt it is an ECU problem. What are the symptoms? Red light on the dash? Did the problem start at the same time as brake pads were replaced?

Have a read of these threads:

As George said, were the brake pads replaced recently, where the brake pad sensors replaced at the same time as the pads?

It started a while before the pads were changed but the sensors haven't been touched as far as I'm aware.

I'm in agreement though as I don't think this is an ECU issue... I'm hesitant to go to Beemer as they'll charge me a fortune for what could be a small amount of work.

To add to this, anyone know of a garage South Dublin would be handy, that could look at this and not charge a small fortune?

Have you checked what the CBS says about your brakes?

If someone has made a mess of programming the CBS after the pad change then you can get these faults.

All sorted, got the pads checked, the sensor cable was damaged so that's what set the alarms off, been cleared now..

Just for your information if them lights show again.its 100% Likly that u have to change the abs block valve this is a common fault on the e90 range.the part was originally 2grand but has now dropped to 400e so I reckon unless ur car has had that changed already you will end up changing it.just keep that in mind ok
