    Hey all,

Firstly, i'm wondering what do ye all think of Sunset Rubdown? Their pretty un heard of as far as i know but their album "Dragonslayer" is absolutely mind blowing! It's like an epic adventure!! So could anyone recommend me a follow up album of there's to get more into them? As i'm not sure where to go from here as i've heard their album "Random Spirit Lover" is a bit hit and miss.

Secondly, Pavement are possibly my favorite band of all time! I have from "Slanted And Enchanted" up to "Brighten the Corners" and im just wondering is "Terror Twilight" worth buying? I think "Wowee Zowee" is a masterpiece but found "Brighten the Corners" to be lacking in something. Also Malkmus' follow on band "The Jicks" anyone know if they live up to "Pavements" reputation or are they a let down?

    Thanks :)

I'll try tackle the Pavement question: If they're possibly your favourite band of all time then what have you got to lose by checking out Terror Twilight? Your own ears are going to be best judge of whether or not you like the record, and opinions that are proffered here might prevent you from a potentially rewarding listen.

As for the Jicks, I haven't listened to much of their studio material but I saw them in the Button Factory there a while ago and they were phenomenal live.

Major Leagues is on that album, buy it, buy it for that reason alone!

I adore sunset rundown. Probably try shut up I am dreaming next. The last song is over 7 minutes of fantastic.

I'll second "Shut up I am dreaming", it's a great album.

Do I presume you are into Wolf Parade already and that's how you found them? If not, Wolf Parade are obviously awesome!

Also, on the subject of Spencer Krug, give Swan Lake a go too! "All Fires" might be a good song to start with.

That is very true, I suppose i hadn't thought of it like that, went out and bought it yesterday anyway, haven't listened yet!
Bought Face The Truth yesterday as it's meant to be similiar to Wowee Zowee, so we'll see, if a band is good live though i don't see why they wouldn't have good albums.

Bought it yesterday off your recommendation :) What about Dragon's Lair?! 10 minutes of pure epicness!

I'm a bit into Wolf Parade, I have Apologies To The Queen Mary which i think is a really fantastic album. I have Expo 64 also but have not really got into it yet. No a mate introduced me to Sunset and then i found Wolf Parade after oddly enough! Will check out Swan Lake also!

Terror Twilight is their worst album, but that's not saying its bad - if you like the rest of their stuff you'll like it too. "Major Leagues" and "The Hexx" are both great tracks.

Malkmus's first solo record is actually better and still very Pavementy.

His debut solo album - not sure if it was officially a SM & The Jicks record though -was lovely. 'Terror Twilight' was a sorry way to sign off for Pavement but probably inevitable. Some good tracks on there though. I haven't enjoyed any of he records SM has released with The Jicks - some good tracks on there but nothing remotely like a coherently good record alas.
