Unlike the old CRT televisions , which were around for over 100 years , Flat screen technology is relatively new.

That means that all the patents are held and jealously guarded by a handful of major manufacturers. They do not share these ! This will be the situation for another 10 years at least ( patents last for 20 or so ).

A flat screen needs a good scaler and good support electronics to look good , and once you go outside of the major manufacturers you run into some absolutely dreadful rubbish like Walker.

Dont even consider going outside the major makers.
    Panasonic
    Samsung
    LG
    Toshiba
    Sony

There are good deals from these makers , especially from Samsung and LG. Stick to those mate , anything else will undoubtedly be a huge disappointment and will only turn out to be waste of money.
