    Hi everyone,

I am new to boards and i am looking for some info on where i can buy a satellite dish in Cork. I am looking for a perforated dish 60 to 80cm in size. I have a lidl 80cm dish attached to my chimney but it moves around a lot in heavy wind. The bolts on the dish are starting to rust away as well.
I have no where else where i can get a good enough signal from.

The pole i have bolted to my chimney came with my lidl dish so the connection on the dish will have to work with this pole.

I would rather deal with a shop than buy online if possible.

    Thanks in advance

Well, firstly is there any need to have the dish mounted on the chimney? The chimney is the last resort area to be fixing satellite dishes. Only fix a dish there if there are obstacles in the way lower down ( I know you say you have problems with signal else where).

Secondly, if your having problems with rust, then a perforated "Sky" like dish is no good either, that will only last a year or so.

Thirdly, the pole that came with the lidl dish is the problem, they are very poorly constructed, the dish its self should be ok. I assume its a curved L shaped bracket?

A perforated dish wont make a jot of difference.
The perforations have zero effect on wind-loading above 10mph because of an effect which is related to Bernoulli's principle. Basically, the air is slowed down by the edges of a small hole. Above a certain wind speed, the turbulence thus produced will effectively block the hole so that no air passes through.

You need to get a decent bracket and bolts and have the dish repositioned in a sheltered position if feasible.

    Hi Snaps,

The only place i can get a decent reception due to buildings and trees is from my chimney, so i am stuck with this option. My original dish has been up for about 5 years so if i cab get another dish that lasts as long i will be happy enough.

My pole is a L shaped bracket, where it has been bolted on to the chimney it has been plastered over. the pole is secure. Is the problem attaching a bracket to that type of pole?

Thanks zerks, i will have a look in Xtravision and Signal Solutions.

If i am reading this right there is a problem with trying to connect to the pole?. My Pole was fitted with my own bolts and it has been plastered over as well. The only way the pole will move is if the chimney will move.
    :D
