I have a sky box which has been giving me trouble recently and it will probably need to be replaced. There is one thing recorded on it that I would like to keep and I was wondering if anyone knew the best way to transfer it onto a computer, dvd etc (or if this is possible).

Was it recorded on a FTA or scrambled channel?

It was recorded on RTE 2.

Unfortunately your only real course of action, is some on the fly recording through scart with an old VCR or dvd/HDD recorder.

Assuming the problem you are having is with the box and not the hard disk in it then you could either just move that disk from your old box and into the new (invalidating warranty?) or you can copy it in its encrypted form from the old hard disk onto the new one by taking both hard disks out and using a PC with copy+ or something like that.

It lets you copy the data as is so you will not be able to actually watch it on the PC but you can take the encrypted data and duplicate it onto the new sky box, where you can then continue to view it on your planner using your existing viewing card and subscription.
