Jamma NeoGeo Cabinet -Problems

Hi Guys. I just bought a jamma cabinet, with a NEO GEO board, a few Neo Geo cartridges came with it, The seller told me everything was working.

One game (Puzzle Bobble) works fine as far as I can tell. Some of the other games (eg Metal Slug) work ok except for the sound, It plays the sound ok, but it seems to be the wrong sound effects in the wrong place.

Just wondering if anyone else has ever had a similar issue?

A couple of the games have distorted sound.

Also a couple of the games dont seem to work at all, the system just boots up into to some sort of diagnostics mode, I presume this is because the cartridge is faulty.

Is there anything I can try to get these to work?

    Thanks.

Rubbing alcohol, cotton swabs and go nuts! Probably just dirty contacts on the carts.

    Hi Thanks, will try that.

Do you think dirty contacts could cause the sound effects to get mixed up? My first thought was that it must be some sort of incompatibility between the board and the cartridge. Although I have zero experience in this area.

Dirty connections can cause anything. From nothing working, to glitched graphics, to glitched sound - I've seen em all with my MVS stuff. A good clean usually sorts it out.

I had one recently with Metal Slug 5 where it was playing perfect except for one little sprite glitch. Gave the cart slot a clean and it worked fine after that.
