We have the late late, brendan o cannor and now now craig doyle and not on one of these shows do they have anyone remotely famous.

is it a cash thing to get someone famous, interesting or maybe even both?
the brits have jonathan ross and graham norton with real stars.

RTE use these shows to promote other shows on RTE. A lot of the guests that appear are other RTE 'stars' promoting some reality TV rubbish they're appearing on.

it seems to be the case alright. i had to laugh when brendan o connor brought those three dollybirds onto the show. apparently they had made an appearance on ICA bootcamp and that merited a talk show appearance.it was nearly as riveting as when he brought on an old guy who won money on a horse and had sex.

Craig Doyle is on twice a week now. Whats the story with that? I didn't expect to see him back after last time.
Love Graham Norton though, he was made for that show!

I reckon it's because they are cheap to produce and fill time

I gather he just shoots the breeze with a few guys, not of whom have an informed opinion on anything.

The Irish chat shows are dying a death, but unfair to compare them to the UK ones I think.

They have big budgets, big audiences and hence get the big stars. Brendan O'Connor can hardly afford to bring in Tom Hanks or Tom Cruise for a chat, can he? Plus, would they even want to come to Ireland any more, its a tiny tiny market.

I just have more or less given up on the Irish chat shows, including the LLS, as most of the guests I have zero interest in, plus Turdidy annoys my happiness. I wonder who people who slag off the shows would like to see on them?

you can always make the assumption that he will have a hollywood celebrity or big VIP as opposed to some unknown from Fair City East Enders or someone who made a TV appearance of a few minutes and has nothing of relevance to say.

Tubs got in Martin Sheen though the reason for it was not clear. the old late late show under the helm of Saint Gay Byrne used to get big names and actually have interesting debates and guests. we were a lot poorer back then.
I thought us Irish were the greatest talkers since the Greeks?

Was that when Martin Sheen was in college in NUIG for a semester? Would have been easy to set that one up when he was in the country anyway.

no, it was about a month ago when the show had a certain theme and martin was the only guest and seemed totally out of place. he was also on when he was in NUIG about five years ago. a down to earth chap and very approachable.

I wonder who Brendan O Connor will have on tonight. More than likely a few c list celebrities.
