Closing of RA/RS claim

Hi everyone,

I am wondering if there is anyone out there with some advice or maybe have been in the same situation as me.

I have been receiving rent allowance/supplement since last may and all is going well. I collect it each week in my local post office.

However I am going to America for 4 weeks during the summer while i am not in college. regarding lodgings i am staying with friends and my ticket was a gift as i know alot will wonder how i can afford this while im in college and receiving benefits. I am willing to take the hit and pay my own rent for the 4 weeks as i know that it cannot be collected by anyone else bar myself.

My question is how long does my claim stay active/open for before it closes and i have to apply again for a new claim. I obviously plan to stay in the house i am renting now and dont plan to move till i am finished college in 3 years. I am hoping that when i come home i can collect my rent allowance in the post office as i do every week with out having to go to my CWO..
