The 'Smart Fortress' virus has just installed itself onto my other laptop. cant delete it easily.

I am running Malwarebytes full scan and Symantec full scan at the same time and am wondering if they will conflict with each other or have any effect?

Also wondering if I restore my laptop to a previous date will this get rid of the virus? (don't know much about this kind of thing and am pretty concerned)

malwarebytes scan took 3 and a half hours and found the virus in 3 different folders.
Removed and quarantined in seconds and then after a restart, I can't find any trace of it now (fingers crossed)

I'd deal with removing the virus first then use a program like Recuva if the photos are still lost

The virus probably put a lot of your files in a temp folder, and when something cleaned that, they were gone.
