    Effectively 9-5 mon to fri.

    That's pretty rubbish for anyone writing a thesis. Especially those who are also working 9-5!

    Is this the same in all universities, or is it specific to DCU Library?

    It depends on the size of the uni. I've seen small colleges go to near shut down during the summer months. Most of the undergrad population disappears, and full time masters and phd students can often find other quiet places to write in the evenings or drop in during the day.

    You can still access online content out of hours. Might be worth seeing if your local library has a nice space for writing in. During August when the repeat students start to panic, you'll find the opening hours increase. I think it might be open slightly late one evenign a week for oscail students, but my memory is poor.

    I checked the library website before posting but couldn't find any info about summer opening hours.

    I'll be in Galway a fair bit during the summer so I emailed NUIG about their library's opening hours. This is the reply I got:

    Library Opening Hours will be as follows from 21st May - 1st September 2012

    Monday - Thursday 8.30am - 10pm
    Friday: 8.30am - 5.30pm.
    Saturday: 10am - 5pm.
    Sunday: Closed

    The LIbrary Reading Room will be open from 7am to 1.30am daily also.

    Now these times suit me better!:D
