    Hi i'm practicing the product rule and this one is slightly different to what i've learned, Would i be right working it out like this ? thanks

    Solve: y=(x^2 - 4x +1) ln(x)

    U= x^2 - 4x +1
    V= ln(x)

    so i think it ends up with this, can i go further on?

    y = (x^2-4x+1) 1/x + ln(x) (2x-4)

    Looks fine. You could take the 1/x value inside the parentheses i.e. divide x into each term inside - if you want. But the answer is correct.

    Just a small point, when you say "solve" in your question above, you really should say "differentiate with respect to x". The equation you gave can't be "solved" as such the way it is stated.
