Done the Dublin Castle tour last week for the first time myself, and have to say, it was the best €4.50 i've spent in ages.

You only have to pay for the state apartment tour, everything else in the Castle is free

    Highly recommended.

And after the Dublin Castle tour, you could visit the Chester Beatty Library. Lovely place and some really interesting exhibits.

    The Guiness 'brewery' is good.
Also Dublinia opposite Christchurch Cathedral was very good when I visited it a few years ago.
A drive into Wicklow mountains. And to Powerscourt estate and/or waterfall ?
The DART trip to Dunleary and a walk down the pier.

A wander round the city centre will find gigs galore.
Phoenix park and the deer and the zoo.
    And also the theatre.

I would recommend going down into the vaults of City Hall, we saw it at a Culture night one year and found it very interesting.

Also, the Icon walk in temple bar is really interesting. Perhaps it is more interesting for Irish people as we recogonise so many names and faces. DO NOT do it at night time, for obvious reasons - it being a lane way n all.
