HI all just got new kitchen in and unfortunately we can't afford quartz. We have white gloss kitchen and now don't know what to go with. I really love the modern look and if money was no option i'd go with silestone, that is the look i love, so i'm kinda stuck now and if anyone could offer ideas i'd be grateful. The kitchen is quite large and we have a breakfast area on our island/peninsula. I suppose the options i can think of is white laminate or very light wood. Any ideas appreciated

We are looking at getting a white gloss kitchen in KUBE and will probably go with Quartz. But they also had fantastic laminate worktops, which I thought were quartz until they told me. They are not the type of laminate that you would be used to. They can be made thick or thin in a range of finishes and she said that they are really hard wearing. I was really surprised at the quality of them to be honest, so it could be worth checking out.

BTW I have no affiliation to KUBE.

Topshape or Topform worktops are a couple of steps up from Formica, they look pretty good, on view in most kitchen retailers

Topshape is square edged and is finished on all 4 sides, unlike the standard formica and laminate worktops.

Topshape is much much tougher than normal formica or laminate worktop.

I have a white gloss kitchen.......strangely we have a lime green glass worktop on it.

Works well for a funky look, people seem to like it.

Out of curiousity, what were everyone quoted on quartz? We have had 2 quotes for the exact same style quartz with 2 different prices, a place in dublin said max would be €400 per sqm, another place in the midlands quote €500 per msq! And they were both first quotes i intend to bargain down as much as possible!!
    We need 3.2msq min.

I will be completely honest with you. I would have serious problems recommending the crowd that did it.

The design is not what we asked for, we wanted a round edge on the breakfast bar but were given a straight edge.

It was fitted and removed due to a fault in the glass. The supplier to the company I bought off has since went into liquidation.

The company I bought off in August 2011 had a shop in Ranelagh in Dublin. It took them 5 moths to measure, produce and fit. To this day they are still trying to give us what we wanted.

There are other companies throughout Ireland doing glass worktops and splashbacks but I have had no dealings with them.

I can PM the company if you are still interested, price was €2000 for all the glass you see in pics.

I'm not getting into a discussion over this, it has been removed. You said you thought you were civil so you know what you said.

    Thanks
