Quick question. Is there an adventure racing type club in galway. By adventure racing i mean a group that would train in 4+ different sports with the aim of completing/racing in adventure races.

why dont you look up the nuig website and click on the sports section. I could tell you the clubs involved. But I think you'll appreciate it more if you do it yourself.

Chun an fhírinne a rá, tá gach suíomh idirlíne a bhaineann le NUIG uafásach agus deacar le nascleanúint...

To be fair - every NUIG website is crap and difficult to navigate.

empacher, the point of the forum is to help people. If you do not want to help then do not reply to a post.Simple.

    <Snip>

It is against the forum charter to debate a moderators decision in a thread

Ficheall and Empacher: Consider this an on-thread warning to stop further discussion of a Mod decision on thread.
Please have a read of the forum charter if ye need to reacquaint yourselves with forum rules......

    Thank you:)

    I'm tired of this.

Poor moderation in the NUIG forum thread started in Feedback.

Mod-based posts are posted in black by some mods in order that they stand out in a thread so that posters will not miss them. Nothing to do at all with feeling important.

WOW. I am sorry. I didn't mean to start an argument. I did look in the NUIG website but didn't see anything there about it. due to the nature of the sport and the fact that it involves such a wide variety of disciplines (running, swimming, mountain climbing, kayaking, mountain biking, canoeing, abseiling ect...) most of which the college has, I didn't know whether it would be classed as a society or club.
Due to the logistical challenges of organising so many stuff. I was wondering is it ok to set up a society that would base itself around a number of clubs or is there rules about that.

People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. pretty sure all info on repeating a year and cost involved are on the college website too. Sound familiar?.....;)
And do me a favour and look a couple of treads down. See it? It is a complaint that there is nothing going on the NUIgalway forum. Can kind of see why....

So can we get this tread back on topic? Is that ok with ye?

Adventure racing. Anyone heard of it before / wants to get into it? Anyone done one before? Anyone intrested in training for one? A quick google surch brought this one up. http://www.gaelforceevents.com/west/ but i am open to suggestions.

Don't worry crazycabbage..........wasn't your fault the way the thread went:)

I'd imagine if you were to contact the societies office they may give you the details about starting up a society like the one you are proposing....

I'll do a little searching and see if I can find anything of interest to you!
    Leave it with me.....

    E-mail: socsofficer@socs.nuigalway.ie Phone: 353 91 492088

At risk of disagreeing with a mod - Riona deals with societies, not clubs.
What crazy cabbage is proposing would definitely be a club.
Kathy Hynes would probably be a better bet.

Ag tabhairt aire an an mbaol a bhaineann le rud a rá nach aontaíonn le thuairim mod - bíonn Riona i gceannas ar tsochaí - ní ar clubanna.
Bheadh club i gceist le smaoineamh crazy cabbage.
Bheadh seans níos fearr agat le Kathy Hynes.

Your username is in bold to make your posts stand out. If someone is reading a thread they will read your posts. I run a vBulletin forum myself and I got rid of the bold usernames and even the "Moderator" and "Administrator" user titles because they serve no purpose other than to massage the cyber-ego of whoever gets to maraud around wearing them. Thread and forum house keeping is done 'behind the scenes' and nobody feels the need to loudly announce themselves as being 'authority'. It works pretty well.

I am of course speaking about my own experiences here and in no way debating any decision you have done, or will ever make. I'm sure they are all correct.

Out of interest, are us Boards peasants allowed to post in bold if we feel others may miss out on our fine posts?

also seeing as there is individual clubs for all these disciplines, I would contact the clubs individually and ask there permission to use there equipment, training times, members. speaking from personnel experience that's what you'll be told to do.
