Genuine question, just looking for a starting point really....
Anyone have any idea how to go about getting tickets for the Masters (even for a practice day) ? Kinda toying with the idea of seeing if it's possible/doable to take my father next year or maybe 2014.
    Thanks

Just had a quick look on their official website and there appears to be an application process - might be the best way to start

    http://www.masters.com/en_US/tickets/index.html

Sorry I cant be more help :)

They open the application process for 2013 on May 1st next, you can register and they'll notify you so if I was you I'd apply for 2013 tickets and then they'll notify you in May next year for the 2014 applications.

Have a plan B at the ready, I've been applying for years now and not a dickie bird. Tickets for the tournament days (Thu-Sun) are reserved for 'patrons' which is basically a closed list though they started issuing a small number of tournament day tickets via the ballot starting last year, otherwise it's an open public ballot for practice days and obviously it's vastly over subscribed.

Any idea how much they are if you are lucky enough to get them?

Can't remember which ticket was involved (practice or tournament days) but I saw $75 mentioned. Augusta National is not an expensive place once you're inside, I believe a sandwich costs one dollar and a beer is two dollars. Getting hold of a ticket is the problem, not the price.

Edit: as per the data pasted below, practice day tickets are $50, tournament days are $75.

I logged on using my account details and found the following..

Practice Rounds Tickets and a very limited number of Daily Tournament Tickets are available by random selection this year. Applicants may apply for any and all days, however, are eligible to win only one day.

    Practice Rounds Tickets

Practice Rounds tickets are daily grounds passes valid for one of the three Practice Round days (Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday). Practice Rounds tickets cost $50 each.

Practice Rounds tickets are sold in advance, by random selection, only after receipt of an online application. Only one application per person or address will be accepted (i.e., one per household). All applicants must be 21 years of age or older. No applications will be accepted through the mail. The application deadline for Practice Rounds tickets for the 2012 Masters® Tournament is July 30, 2011. All applicants will be notified in mid-August via email when the random selection process is completed.

    Daily Tournament Tickets

Daily Tournament tickets are daily grounds passes valid for one of the four Tournament days (Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday). Daily Tournament tickets cost $75 each.

A very limited number of Daily Tournament tickets are available. Tickets are sold in advance, by random selection, only after receipt of an online application. Only one application per person or address will be accepted (i.e., one per household). All applicants must be 21 years of age or older. No applications will be accepted through the mail. The application deadline for Daily Tournament tickets for the 2012 Masters® Tournament is June 30, 2011. All applicants will be notified in mid-July via email when the random selection process is completed.

Series Badge patrons (those individuals currently on our patrons list receiving badges each year), employees, and other related ANGC parties are not eligible to apply for Daily Tournament tickets. They may however apply for Practice Rounds tickets.

No additional tickets/badges will be sold at the Masters® Tournament gates. Persons of all ages must have a ticket to gain entry to the grounds.

Applications for Practice Rounds and Daily Tournament tickets are only good for the next upcoming Tournament. If you would like to be considered for credentials in future years, you will need to re-apply.

This is not a sweepstakes or "give-away," but rather, a pre-qualification drawing from those persons wishing to purchase tickets to the Masters® Tournament. No purchase is necessary to submit your request online; however, should you be notified that your name has been selected to purchase tickets, you will be required to make your payment in full.

For additional information regarding ticketing please, contact the Masters Tournament Ticket Office at 706-667-6700.

You can get a four day ticket for about $3000. You need to leave a large deposit for the return of the badge.

Accomodation is prohibitively expensive with 3-5 day minimums. It would be a long way to go for a practice day....

Try the random draw, but it's not really a viable option.

Myself and my friends all applied for Masters tickets again this year. One of us was successful and received the notification yesterday.

We got an option to buy 4 tickets for the Tue practise round at $50 each.

Now to convince the other halves that we will benefit greatly from this lads' trip of a lifetime !!!!

$3,500 for tickets for Sat & Sunday, 3 nights hotel, transfers and hospitality at the event.

That's through an agent that guarantee the packages and hospitality. Bit of a VIP trip excluding flights. You can private me for details.

The other option is go into a lottery to get tickets.

I have been doing the lottery for the last 4 years and not a chance, i would think there is a better chance of winning the green card lottery

The lottery does work - but we have been spreading our bets across about 4 guys for the last 4 years. Finally one of us won !!

Not too long to wait now !!

Just curious - how long in advance do you know if you've gotten tickets or not?

You apply a couple of weeks after the tournament and they confirm whether you've won or not in July.

Here is the email they send out :

Did you apply for practice days tickets or is a case of you take what you are given?.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 848 ✭✭✭Kace

When you apply you can select which events you would like to apply for, i.e. individual practice days and/or tournament days.

They then confirm back to you whether you have been successful or not. If you have been successful you take what you are given and don't have any choice.

If you win, they give you about 2 weeks to make the payment for the tickets via credit card - which they then post to you 8 months later.

Also it's not like it was for the Ryder Cup here in Ireland years ago where you had to provide names and passport numbers and all that jazz in order to book the tickets - they don't ask for any names or detailed information.
