    Lads my club has been using teamer for a number of years and found the service excellent. However they have decided to charge for text messages after 200 free a month. Put simply my club can't afford to pay for messages. Does anyone know of an alternative to teamer that is free or cheap?

    Vodafone give 600 webtexts free a month, all you need is a sim. Between that and teamer you'll have 800, if you're really stuck you could have a second vodafone sim for another 600.

    Thanks. We used to use webtexts before but it was a major pain very difficult to manage.

    Hi Lads,

    If all you are after is free texts, then webtext is the way to go for sure. I think you'll find however that if you are running a team from webtext, its pretty one dimensional in terms of its functionality. And a word of warning also, make sure you don't go over your free allowance, or you may get absolutely hosed on the per message price, and also watch all the T&C's, especially if you go over 160 characters in an individual text, you get hosed on that as well by some of the operators.

    Getting back to to Teamer, we are charging now for anything over 200 texts, that is correct. Owing to massive hikes in the cost of our sms (yes, we pay for them like everyone else does) by the operators (one in particular), we have no option but to introduce this limit. Allied to this, some pretty excessive and unreasonable use by a small number of teams/clubs hasn't helped this, so to be fair to all, the limit has been set at an amount that makes no difference at all to 85% of our teams. for those who need to buy some bundles beyond that amount, we are very very competitive on price compared to other text suppliers.

    Finally for now lads, consider this. Does webtext allow you to ;

    - choose if you want to send by email/sms or a combination of both
    - track player responses in one place
    - track attendance over the course of the season
    - enable you to send event cancellations with one click (from your phone)
    - give you a private online environment for your team with team messageboard/forum, match reporting, man of match voting, photo sharing, documents sharing etc...
    - provide an iPhone app for you to manage your team pitchside or on the move

    If you want to send free texts, then head off to webtext and the best of luck with that. If you want to use the best online team management platform in the world, completely free of charge, with 200 free event notification texts per month, then come and check us out at www.teamer.net

    Thanks
    Teamer

    Should be noted that webtext does allow group texts, is quite functional, doesn't have an ad in every text, and that the post above isn't exactly impartial!

    Have to say, love the Teamer website, a god-send for organising the lads for training and matches. The Teamer app is a monumental let down though, very limited functionality and missing a heap of features from the website. If it had everything that the website had, I think I'd pay the subscription but until then not a chance. Completely over-priced.

    Does the teamer website send out advertising to the website. How much does it cost for players to respond to the text or email.

    Does the email come back into the teamer app or does it come back into a personal email address.
