Amulet Voice Kinect - looking for feedback from Kinect users

    Hi folks,

As some of you might know, I work for Amulet Devices; we're an Irish company that have designed a remote control with a built-in mic for voice recognition. It works with Windows Media Center, and is only available in the US, due to lack of CE certification at present.

Recently, we've ported our voice recognition software to work with the X-Box Kinect, attached to a PC running Media Center, and made it available as a free download.

We use the depth camera on the Kinect to recognize several postures that can be used to easily turn on & off voice recognition, even while sitting down. This uses our own algorithms -- the standard Kinect libraries only work properly if you're standing up, which isn't very friendly for media playback. We also use the beam forming and echo cancellation features of the Kinect audio hardware to focus the mic on the person speaking, to help filter out other background noise in the room.

We're looking for testers, especially Dublin based, to try it out and give us some feedback on how well it works for you. You'll need a PC running Windows Media Center (ideally, attached to your main TV rather than a PC monitor) and of course a Kinect unit -- either Microsoft's new Kinect for Windows, or a standalone X-Box Kinect with its own PSU. (If you bought your Kinect bundled with an X-Box, it may take its power directly from the X-Box and can't be connected to a PC.)

If you'd like to help us out and give it a try, you can download the free software from http://www.amuletdevices.com/kinect/

There's lots more technical info for those interested on our company blog at http://www.amuletdevices.com/blog/

If this was supported on XBMC, I would gladly test it out for you.

    Hi

Does the version available for download do music only? Would be interested in something that controls all MC functions, but don't use it to listen to music.
