anyone know the story with hrv and room sealed stoves...heard of people getting sealed stoves but are they using external air or balanced flue or foom air from hrv...this is a very grey and frustrating area and when i rang a popular stove manufacturer in waterford the woman could not answer my concerns only to say they recommend trickle vents which by the way defeats the purpose of hrv...its really annoying especially after paying 3.5k on air tightness and 3.5k on hrv and then hit a snag like this...please help..also is hrv any good and is it worth the money and hassle.

You can fit a stove with the Hrv you will require a stove with external air supply there are a good few on the market most of them been wood burners, I assume you don't require a boiler model.
External air is when all the combustion air for the stove is taken from outside meaning no air is taken from the room unlike a normal stove.

thanks for the info jsf...i need 2 stoves, one a stove with boiler to hear all downstair rads and the other an insert stove..you reckon 4 inch ducting coming from outside connected to back of stoves..would be handier than balanced flues and stuff..wont take any air from the room either i suppose..i also heard the insert stove if under 5kw does not need an external supply...do you know anything about this???

You can only use balance flues on gas appliances.
As far as I know if you have external air feeds to the stoves the you do not need a vent at all.
Boru stoves make most of there stoves with the option of external air.
They have free standing boiler models and inserts as well plus there an Irish company
