    Hi all,

I'm due to take my maternity leave in the middle of June, which will take me up to the middle of December this year. I also have 20 days annual leave to take and would like to take about 10 weeks unpaid leave. My question is, is there a particular order I need to take the leave in. Obviously I need to take my maternity leave first but then do I take unpaid leave then annual leave or annual leave then unpaid leave?

    I'm employed full time...

    Thanks in advance.

I would suggest you take Mat then hols and then unpaid leave. The reason being that you only need to give your employer 28 days notice for unpaid leave so you don't need to inform them now. If you take holidays you will continue to get some form of payment up until before the unpaid leave. Holiday entitlements can not always be carried over and some employers will insist on them being taken before you return to work. If you leave the unpaid leave until the end you then have the option of changing the length of time you take it for. Hope this helps.

You most certainly cannot finish paid maternity leave, take holidays and return to unpaid leave!!! all maternity leave must be taken together paid and unpaid!! while on the unpid leave you can write to your eployer and request your annual leave/public holidays!! Please ring Tel: 1890 245545 the Eqaulity Authority before making such a big desicion.
