So I recently bought Morrowind, and I'm asking for any advice for a good setup to begin with. I have a fair bit of experience with oblivion, want to play skyrim but my laptop aint able for it so i decided to take the step backwards.

Marrowind is much much better than Oblivion!! You will love it whatever way you play through it!!

1st thing you should try find is the boots of blinding speed!!! Brilliant item!

that's one of the expansion packs

there are some nice mods, i think "better bodies" makes them look nicer, but i only have the original MW installed so i can't use it

ahhh right, I got the GOTY edition. The better bodies mod is great, it was weird with the original segmented bodies. I will be looking to install one of the graphical overhauls once i get a better laptop to work off. usiing a netbook atm and it gets a bit jumpy with the normal graphic settings.

    Hi there,

Glad to see that so many are still willing to play this gem of a game. :)

If you don't want to mess around too much with mod load orders you can always get an all-in-one pack like Morrowind Rebirth (http://www.moddb.com/mods/morrowind-rebirth), which revamps several aspects of the game, from gameplay to graphics. Since you mention that you are using a netbook I cannot tell for sure how well this would run but you can simply try it out.

If you're brave enough then delve into a page like Empirical Morrowind (http://www.mwmythicmods.com/realism.htm), which offers you an exhaustive listing of mods. I'm pretty sure you will find there something to your liking.

Be sure to read the instructions for every mod carefully and to try out the game after each mod installation, just to make sure there are no issues.

    Have fun! :)

Here's a good guide for essential mods.
    http://morrowind2009.wordpress.com/

I followed most of the steps 4-8 but I didn't bother with new lands or excessive new content, at least for the first playthrough.

If you get tired of the mechanics of morrowind, you can always use morroblivion, where the entire world of morrowind is brought to oblivion. I haven't tried it yet but last time I checked, all the base morrowind quests were added and they just had Bloodmoon to do.

Multiple mark and recall was one of the most useful that comes in mind last time I was playing. Makes things a bit easier but it still took a very long time to complete the game!
