Who Are Your Clubs Bogey Teams/Players?

As a Sunderland fan, I would definitely have to say Everton.

We haven't beaten them away since 1996, haven't beaten them at home since 2001, and their current manager has never lost a game to Sunderland. The one time we've come close to beating them of late Howard Webb decided to give them a penalty because Leon Osman kicked the ground. It just feels like no matter what we won't beat them.

On the other side of the coin, I feel like we're Bolton's bogey team. We've always had a good record against them and think we've only lost once to them (Keane's last game in charge of us) in the last number of years and they've only scored 1 goal against us since Keane left in 2007. Hull also, I can't recall us ever losing to them since I've been a Sunderland fan.

As for players, Shola Ameobi and Tim Cahill

Not this season, but I've observed Millwall get the better of us too much for my liking...

Bogey team has been Barcelona recently :pac:.

In the PL United's bogey team recently has probably been Blackburn or Liverpool at Anfield. Haven't beaten Liverpool at Anfield since 2008(I think) since the Tevez winner.
Blackburn beat us at Old Trafford this season and arguably cost us the title two years ago with that draw when Valencia missed a costly one on one opportunity.

Bogey players I would say over the years have been Danny Murphy and Brad Friedel.

    Man United :(

Yeah Blackburn for Utd, especially under Hughes they seemed to have quite a good record against us. Also Fulham have a few good results against us at the Cottage.

On the other hand Villa seem to have a terrible record against us.

    Bogey players: Murphy and Torres

That's because Harry has no backbone and admits defeat before the games even start!! Sure how could he possibly beat the mighty United with Ferguson at the helm so why bother try? :pac:

United it be Chelsea away. Hibs it pains me to say it would be Hearts, I feel more confident of playing OF team.

Ah he's only been our manager for 3 and a bit seasons now, our record vs United has been apalling for nearly, or possibly over, 20 years now. And Harry beat United away in an FA Cup QF so :p.

When stats are compiled shots and headers that hit the posts and crossbar aren't counted as being on target, I disagree with this.

how can you disagree. The target is the goal. Assuming there is no player in a position to block the ball and you hit the target it will be a goal whereas if I hit the bar in the same position i have missed the target meaning its not a goal.

Bogey team/player. ooh I dunno Wigan away maybe although more recently wigan at home is causing hassle

Any team in the relegation battle.

It used to be Robbie Fowler, and Liverpool in particular. We went years without getting a decent result at Anfield, but recently we've done a little better, but then we do have Robin van Persie, who scores when he wants.

Yeah I know I'm probably in a minority of one on this, but say you've got a player in a one on one with the keeper, the keeper is on the penalty spot and the attacking player is 8 feet away with perfect sighting to hit the ball either left or right of the keeper but yet he still blasts it at the goalie and he saves and a perfect chance is wasted.

This shot from the attacker is rightfully counted on target but in truth it's an awful miss. Compare that to a beautifully struck freekick from say 35 yards out that just skims the wall and then beats the keeper and hits the underside of the crossbar bounces down on the goal line and then bounces out and is cleared. For me that's on target, it could've bounced in.

For Blackburn the player is Robin Van Persie, I'm sure he has scored more goals against Blackburn than he has against any other team.

for Arsenal its usualy away to the newly promoted teams......sheffield united, hull, crystal palace, swansea, wigan and probaly a few more i can't remember have all done us in on there home patch in there 1st season back in PL

For West Ham it has to be Bolton and Kevin Davies who always seems to score against us. Also, we haven't beaten Liverpool at Anfield since Geoff Hurst was in the team.

For Blackburn the team is West Ham. Just can never seem to beat them.

As mentioned above Robin Van Persie is a nightmare player against us. Peter Crouch has had our number for the last couple of years too.

Calling it a shot on target isn't some sort of consolation prize,it either is or isn't.
    Hitting the woodwork isn't.

Yep I know, but the point is still moot for me at least.

UCD with Tony McDonnell seemed to bring out the Wimbledon in us.

    Rarely beat them thinking back.
