Might have a look at the allimunim picnic table for use as a rifle rest/table for targeting - plinking, any alternatives / cheaper options for this purpose?

other members from here have reported the night vision to be good enough

The nightvision is not too bad for the price. It's definitely not suitable for anything more but relatively close up observation and I found it to be extremely temperature sensitive ( couldn't get it to work for love nor money in frost ). Having said that, it's also only a fraction of the cost of the proper stuff.

Think of nightvision on the older style camcorders and that's about what you'll get.

The binoculars will be worth it to buy. I had the 10x50 and for €20 were great value

Got the NV last Christmas and again is ok for the money. Could see easily out to 80m. Also got a IR lens cover for my night force 170 off eBay @€;20 and it really lit up the night

Bought the nv last time they were in and was a bit disappointed tbh. Their just about good enough for spotting rabbits but thats all. Its still cheap for nv though even though only effective to about 70 yards.

Do you still have the sellers name for ebay? Any time i've looked there for an IR cover there always around the €100 mark:eek: Would it not be possible to set up the NV at the back off the scope like some do with camcorders?

Thats what i got the nV for but couldn't get it to work so got the $$$ back.

The IR is just a disc of IR plastic that works well and you have to fit it to the LF 170 yourself. bit of duct tape or a plastic flower pot will do grand. They say they will cut any size you need.

I know that, just wondering was it just mine or did more fall apart. I only bought them for the kids, so as to keep their grubby hands off my good ones.

I got these in Argos for €12.99 for the kids to use......good compact size and easy for kids to carry. They're also handy to have thrown in the glove box in case you spot something on your travels. Photo says 16 X 25 but they're 12 X 25
