    Hi all,

I have an iTab 38HD (which I love but keeps coming up USB device not recognised, which means I can only update via network), and an AC Ryan Playon HD (which I hate).

I'm looking to get a new media player in the coming months and was just wondering what everyone thinks of the Popcorn Hour A-300 or C-300 which I've noticed after a bit of googling. They both look quite impressive but seem to be lacking a bit more info on them.

I was wondering how the movies get organsied by covers etc, do you need to actually download the jpeg pictures yourself or will it search the net for you?

Also it says it comes with a 2.5 and 3.5 inch drive. Retailing at $349 on the website but never looked to see if it includes a drive actually.

Has anyone got one of these yet and would they reccomend it, or reccomend other players out now or coming out soon.

I've noticed the boxee box, xtreamer, dvico; they all look ok but the popcorn hour looks a little more attractive.

I cannot comment on the Popcorn hour, but last week ordered myself an Xtreamer Sidewinder3. It seems powerful and neat. Although only has a 2.5 inch bay. (i'll be playing from a NAS so isn't an issue). I've heard some complaints about Xtreamer as a company, but a few colleagues swear by them so bit the bullet. I've been told it does all the retrieval of covers and Movie metadata so fingers crossed its not a manual task!

I'll let you know when it arrives what I think of it.

I got a popcorn and sold it in 2 weeks. The UI was clunky and there was compatibility issues, the build was so-so. In regards to movies organised by covers, the popcorn I got needed software installed on my pc which scraped the net for info and details and placed them in the films folder. (for example my 28 days later folder had the film the poster and the details in a text file).

If you know anything about following tutorials or want to spend that amount I would recommend xbmc on anything and streaming all your media from network storage. I run xbmc on a asrock micro pc with windows7 dual boot. but you can run xbmc on an Apple tv if you want and I think the newest one will stream 1080p but it might not be jailbroken yet. I am waiting for my raspberrypi(€35 credit card sized pc google it) to come, will run and stream 1080p on xbmc.

I have an old PopcornHour A110 and I think it's excellent. It does require PC software to index the movies, but I don't have a problem with that. I've also bought and configured two A300's recently for other people and the indexing software is built into that model, so there's no need for the PC software. I'd highly recommend either model. I've only ever used it with internal hard disks, I've never streamed off the network, but that's supposed to work equally well.

It's available with a 2TB internal drive for 369 here, you may find it cheaper elsewhere:

cheers for the comments. I might wait a while to read some more reviews before committing to buy.

I seen Komplett have the C-300 in also, 389 euro without a drive:
