Trans and Marriage Ending

I am at a critical juncture in my life, whereby I may end up parting with my wife because of me being transgender.

I love her deeply and cannot imagine my life without her in it, she is my best friend. We have not been able to be intimate with her for some time, and I think it is all psychological (my issues).

I know most will say the inevitable is to split up because my being trans is alway going to be part of who I am, but we both love each other, and that has always held us together, no matter what, except for this.

Have any of you been in this situation and how have you dealt with it.
PM me if you have any personnel advise. Thanks

    Catherine

    Catherine,

You are, unfortunately, far from the first trans person to be in that situation. Also unfortunately, everyone's situation is slightly different, so there really aren't that many universal rules for dealing with it. And, everyone's outcome is also different - there is nothing that is inevitable about the outcome of one partner in the relationship transitioning.

All I can really suggest is that you go to a trans support group meeting near you, and find someone or some people to talk to about it. There is a list of those meetings here - http://www.teni.ie/page.aspx?contentid=14

TENI might also be able to put you in touch with a trans-aware counsellor who might be able to help you.

    Deirdre.
