    Hi all,
I have a trek 1500 slr but the frame itself has a fair few scrapes and im not particularly fond of the way it looks anymore. it has full ultegra set up and everything else is standard bontrager.
can only another Trek frame fit all my original gear without major changes or is it possible to match them to a variety of different make frames

    thanks

No, you can put bontranger and shimano stuff on pretty much any frame. There are a couple of BB standards (english threaded, Italian threaded, press fit) that you have to watch out for but if your new frame uses a different type of BB you can just buy a new BB and the rest of your groupset will still fit.

I swapped my kit over to a secondhand frame a few weeks ago. I had a specialized frame with full 105 and I transferred it to a Dolan Hercules SE Carbon frame that I bought in the ads section here on boards.
It was very straightforward. I saved a lot of work by transferring my stem & bars with the shifters and tape still fitted. The cables were fine for size except for the rear outer but the best thing would be to buy a new Jagwire cable & outers set. Then the BB,Crank, brakes and Rear Derailleur transferred straight across.
Th only change I made was the Front Derailleur bracket was a 31.9mm whereas I needed a 34.9mm. The bike came with a 34.9 bracket fitted so I just bought a new Braze On Front Derailleur for €30.
It might be worth buying something like the Park Tools Blue Book as a reference guide for setting up the groupset.

Thats great lads thanks. Id love a cube peloton frame :o the white one with the lime tyres for sale on the adverts is lovely imo :)

Is the Cube Peleton Aluminium? You might be better buying a Carbon frame if you're going to all the hassle to transferring your groupset over.
You could keep the old frame and gradually build it up as a winter bike with spare gear or secondhand kit off the adverts section.
