Where would the wwe/pro wrestling in general be without John Cena?

It was a fruitful day on april 23rd 1977 when mama and papa Cena produced a wickle baba and named him John.

30 years later and you cannot look at anything wrestling, it seems, without that name.
Lets say that the stars were not as aligned as they were and in some weird "what a wonderful life" type telling; What would the WWE be like without him?

Who would have taken that spot that he has now, which begun at WMXX when he faced the Big Show? What would the last 8 years have been like?

Would the Raw be pulling in more than the 3.0 average that it has been? Would it be more? would it be less?
Would the WWE even be in as such a strong position as it is when you think about the amount of revenue that man brings in on merch alone?

    So.. Discuss..

Linda McMahon would still have wanted to run for the Senate, so we still would have had a lot of the unintelligent garbage we've been largely fed...just with a different guy on the front of it.

i think they're actually fortunate that John Cena is as talented as he is, or else i actually think the company might be worse off.

We would of had a lot more guys being pushed anyway cause wwe always fall back to Cena when times are tough(not blaming Cena there its wwe i'm pointing the finger at). I think Jeff Hardy would of been brought back by now if he stayed clean & if he was he'd be the guy for wwe.

It would largely be the same they have just would have found another person. With or without Cena WWE Creative would be run the way it is and rather obviously the external factors - economy, technology would all be the same.

Very few people could keep Cena's schedule without getting burnt out or their body breaking down completely. The top spot in WWE probably would have changed over at the very least twice by this stage.

Cena has a tremendous work ethic and has marketability out the ass to a certain lucrative demographic. So that would be hard to replicate.

Maybe Vince would be pushing Ryback like crazy around now.
Hard to know who would be the guy though. I think if he kept himself together it'd be Geoff Hardy but after that....Orton I just don't see him being a huge draw or merch guy nor Batista either. Perhaps Mysterio would have gotten a massive push.

Either they would find someone else to do it with (with similar work ethic & attitude) or the "old guard" would have to fill in even more to cover for it (i.e. Undertaker, HHH etc.) with even more bitching about their failure to create a new star.

you could argue there would have been another star in his role but perhaps WWE wouldn't have found anyone who could work a crowd like Cena? perhaps they would have gone through all manner of different guys trying to find someone who would be their big star

Problem with wrestling is back in the 90s there where loads of stars.

Now there really isnt many stars. Your best mate would have a totally different favourite wrestler then you.
A lot of people just dont like Cena.
Even if he had the likeability of The Rock he cant carry it on his own.
