Redundancy Lump Sum & Rejoining Original Company

I was made redundant in 2009 but now have the possiblity to re-join the same company again this summer.

It was a compulsory reducdancy & my previous role does not exist any more, in fact the whole division is gone, so I will be hired back into a brand new role.

My question is, will there be any tax implications in relation to the original lump sum redundancy payment ? Will I need to pay additional tax on it or is there anything else I need to keep any eye out for.

    Thanks

No problem there. The provisions in that area exist to avoid a situation where staff are made redundant and rehired into effectively the same position, but usually on less favourable terms. In which case the redundancy is a sham and the money paid is really more like an inducement or compensation for the change in terms.
