Anyways I'm thinking of getting a tattoo to mark the begining of my transitation when i start hormones.I'm kinda stuck on what to get and there isnt much online about trans tattoos just the typical trans symbol and stuff like that.Has anyone done something like this before or any ideas on what I might get? also parlours that are good and good artists.any info would be appricated ^_^

I got one on my foot simply because I think they look cool on womens feet,I don't even know how to describe it though, certainly isn't a trans symbol, something like some sea plant that you'd see growing on the sea beb,if ever you were down there of course!:)

Most of my tattoos are personalized to signify stages in my life, you could combine elements that you like in other tattoos to create something knew or go a little more abstract in finding your meaning. Say for instance a water symbol to signify fluidity and moving from one place to another in your life. Also depending on where your going to get it as circles are not a good idea on parts of the body that are going to radically change shape but their are celtic symbols of a man and a woman in a circle kind of like ying and yang where the two shapes male and female interlock to make up the circle but could also be suggestive of the transition from one to the other!

A phoenix? It symbolises re-birth and renewal.

(It can make for a pretty great tattoo as well.)

OP, I'm not going to move this since you'll get some good ideas for trans-specific imagery here, but I'd highly recommend checking out the tattoos & piercings forum they are really helpful with lots of guides on what to look for in artists, etc. I found it a great resource when planning my own tattoo (the first of many I think- once the bug bites it's addictive!).

I chose Snakebite on Middle Abbey St for mine, and I'll probably go back there again, I had Sean and he was great. My tattoo was very simple, just handwriting but he was brilliant and sound.
