Im going to Boston for the summer and will be working in the prudential centre! May have to live further out, probably allston, Brighton or cambridge! Is there train routes from these places or would I be better to try and rent somewhere closer?

Brighton and Allston are mostly served by buses to Kenmore square where you can hop on the green to Copley or Hynes. Cambridge is served by the red line and you would change at park street to get the green line in the other direction. A weekly ticket is $15 and that's unlimited buses and subway so its great value.

The T subway trains will take you to and from all of these places. You may have to change lines but its easy to get around. Especially to the Prudential center which is right in the city center. You will pay a fortune in rent near there most likely, better off finding a place a little out but near a T stop. Allston would be great cause its on the green line, same as the Prudential Center. Friends of mine lived there, it had a great atmosphere and lots of shops and restaurants in the area. Cambridge is great too, maybe a little further to go for work, but not too bad!

Green Line commute time all depends on how far out you are from the city. If you live out in Cleveland Circle (the end of the Green Line) it can take at least 1hr to get downtown (not as bad if you are getting out in Kenmore).

There are no trains in Allston unless you live close to the B line. So you'll have to get the bus.

Also if you live in Brighton, try and avoid living near the B line. C, D & E are much quicker options.

Cambridge is a more expensive place to rent in but take the Red Line to Park change onto Green Line to get to Kenmore.

Boston is a very well connected city so you can get to anywhere from anywhere, the only issue is how long it takes.

Scope out public transport time from potential appartments to Prudential Center using Google Maps.
