At 147 lbs offence wins this, not defence. Floyd has not got enough effective offense to beat Ray. I can't see any area where Floyd can win this. Plus, Ray was a natural WW.

I dont see it as even at all. Ray's probably Mayweathers worst nightmare in the ring, just as fast, just as slick, as confident, heavier hitter, bigger man. He'd walk through Floyd and for all PBFs defences he'd still break him up

I think it would be an even match-would be intriguing as both have similar skills but use them in very different ways-2 of my all time favourites.

Rush Boxing club and Rush Martial Arts head coach.

I don't see it as anyway even. Ray was bigger, stronger, as fast, heavier hitting, feet as quick, offensively more deadly. Floyd is just a little too small to beat a WW Leonard. Leonard is the complete package. Power, speeed and size see Floyd defending more than attacking, and losing most, if not all of the rds. Floyd does nothing in offense to match or beat Ray in any stanza.

We must pitch them at WW. And, Floyd at welter has not looked to me as being great. I mean, who did he beat? Ray would have demolished any of Floy'd opponents. Best WW Floyd is from a year to two years ago. Maybe the one that beat Hatton, and Hatton bothered him, even in losing. Ray would be far too much.

Both are GREAT. One was a greater WW.

Two of my fave boxers, I go with SRL on being the bigger puncher.

How do you guys visualize Leonard piercing Floyd defence?

Also can you see him catching Floyd clean on the chin?

He may not catch him too much, but Floyd will spend most of this fight defending. Defending won't earn him rds. When he engages, either at range or in close, he is meeting a man with wicked speed, combinations, and power. Mosley badly rocked Floyd, and had Mosley had the energy and finishing of a peak SRL, then Floyd may not have made it. I know Floyd did take the shots well, but he was definitely wobbled, and hurt.

It takes a Hearns or SRR type man, big, fast and hard hitting, to really trouble a peak SRL @ WW.

Look at them at WW. Floyd has had what, 6 fights? Never looked amazing. He is not a true great WW. Ray is bigger, as fast and stronger, with no weakness.

I have watched them even as amateurs at the same time in their careers, as 19 year old Olympians. One was 139 lbs and the other was 125 lbs. The size and talent then is obvious. What changed?

Both turned pro, one as a true WW, moving up to LMW and MW. The other turned pro at 130 lbs, and finally went WW towards the end of his career. Floyd was a great LW-LWW man. Ray was an all time great WW.

Would strongly favour SRL but don't think it would be beyond the realms of possibility that FMJ could eek out a decision. Floyd's awesome at avoiding one or 2 punches and coming back with a counter of his own. He's never fought anyone that could throw the combos Ray could and at the speed. He'd spend the whole fight under pressure focusing so much on avoiding Ray that he's wouldn't have much time or space to get his own shots off. You don't beat SRL by pot shotting him all night. Bigger, stronger, just as fast and with a more eye catching style I see SRL winning this on points more often than not.

Mosley caught him clean on a couple of accasions. And that was Mosley. Past it, and not near as good as a peak WW Leonard.
