custom fit putter

Okay so usually putting is my strong point of my game but recently I seem to be pulling everything left (i am right handed). It has the **** freaked out of me tbh.
I know its the Indian and not the arrow especially with the success I have in the past with same putter. But as something has to change in my stroke this might be a great time to also have putter tweaked. So has anyone had this done and what kind of results can one expect?

pulling short putts left is often caused by a deceleration in the putting stroke try keeping the acceleration going thru the stroke.

Thanks mike. I know where your coming from on this one decelaration causes toe to close thus causing pulled putt but I just know this is not my problem.
Just can't figure it out at the moment my stats have gone from 1.6 putts per hole to
2.4 putts per hole in a week. that is carzy.
Totally out of the blue and putting is the one aspect of my game I've always been happy with.

I got custom fit a couple of years back at Pure Golf in Leopardstown. Went with a much shorter putter, which worked wonders with my long putting but killed my short ones. Back now with a standard 34" Newport 2 for the last 18 months.

That said, several people I know got fitted for putters at the above place and it transformed their putting. They'll modify your existing putter if u want, don't need to buy a new one.

Seems a bit extreme to contemplate such a change after 1 week? Could it just have been a bad week?

It might seem that way but I have a putting mat at home and the problem is showing up clear as day. In the past id have rolled in 50 in a row now its more like 4 or 5 then a big pull. 13 in a row has been my best this week. On the course in the last 3 rounds I've missed about 7 maybe 8 from inside 3 feet so its an extreme problem.
If cant keep a 3 footer on line then what's happening with the 30 footers.

Things like this happen. Part of the game is to figure out what is causing them, have fun with the investigation.

Tell me this, how long have you had your current putter and why would you consider changing it after 1 week?

Custom fit for a putter takes the biscuit, I'd never buy into that

On a similar note, I've never seen such marketing in golf anywhere else. They have everyone by the balls. Some rich execs in TM for sure...

True, but custom fitting has saved me a fortune! I used to be terrible for buying new equipment, had to have that new driver etc. Then once I got custom fit it wouldn't even enter my head to change my clubs. :)

I have had my putter about 2 or 3 year and love it would not change to a new one.
The reason I'm thinking about custom fitting apart from the recent poor form is that the grip and shaft need changing anyway so I am just wonder about getting the full custom job done on mine. So thats why I'm interested in hearing from anyone who had this done. If I was holing everything or at least back to having confidence knocking in the 3 footers I wouldn't touch it but this is not the case now.

Why does the shaft need changing  I've mine a couple of years, and while I have re-gripped a few times; it's never entered my mind to change the shaft (Bar maybe shorten the shaft).

It's all rusty and pit marks. I don't know why as my old irons shafts are fine.

I would definitely recommend trying a few different grips. I changed to a mid-size on my putter ages ago and it made a huge difference, especially from 6 feet in.

Bingo problem solved. I can call off the custom job.
Something changed alright not my stoke my putting mat location. Moved into another room and only just noticed that the floor is way off. This explains all the putts to the left. After practicing with this for a week I was convinced I was pulling them all and this doubt/lack of confidence in my stroke actually caused me to pull them on the course. Turned the mat the other way and now I'm banging them in the same as I use to.
I'll just sit back I read all the abuse coming my way for being a right idiot!!. Anyway I'm happy again!!

Can I be the first to say you're an absolute gombeen! To be honest, I thought the Celtic tiger was back. A weeks bad putting and you wanted to be custom fit for a new one. Ffs!

Makes you wonder wtf you were doing for the 4 or 5 in a row that you were rolling in :p

    Yes you may.
Like I said the grip and shaft could do with changing but now normal service had been restored they will do for another while.
Put yourself in my shoes if on most days you roll in 50 putts in a row and then suddenly can make more than 13 and you have no confidence over 3 footers. If that's not an emergency I don't know what is.
If I had to sell my mother to fix it, well that's just what you got to do.
    That's life.

Needing to go to the bathroom early on in the round with a women's group behind you.
