Evening all, heading to Dublin this weekend and was planning on bring my swimming gear and heading out to the 40ft for my first swim out there.

What temperature are we looking at ~10C?
Are their markers boys out there?
And any areas of concern, safe entrance/exist?
I assume it is tidal, much check the tide timetable, is it best to swim just at high tide?

1.Not sure about temp, but it will be sharp

2.There are 3 buoys, one to the left of main entrance into the sea at 40ft another two that goes around towards the cove, if you hit the second buoy you can take a left and head straight in where there are steps or you can head into cove after 3rd buoy.

3.Its not really tidal, there is always water at 40ft but maybe low near buoys. lads I know go around 12pm. You might see them there and its no problem to join in.

Few lads I know go around to 3rd buoy from 40ft entrance and then back again to start. Now a while ago I was following them and hit the 2nd buoy but had to go in towards the steps as felt to cold to carry on.

Thanks mad m for your detailed reply.
Right now not sure if I can make it down, plans slightly changed. None the less I'll bring the gear and your instructions!

If you were going down, what time would you reckon you might be there?

I would reckon it be Sunday, late morning ~ 11.00am
