It did indeed, but there were still some sold post 82 as the curvy Sierra scared the bejesus out of the conservative Cortina buyer!!:D

Thats why whenever Ford did a big model change for years after they ran the older model alongside it like the MK3.5 Fiesta in approx 1995 and the Focus in 1998, the heap of **** Escort plodded alongside it untill 2000.

Cortina production continued by Ford of Germany after it ended at Dagenham, so a late one like yours could be a good buy. Need photos really.

(nothing wrong with a late Escort Carchy, cheap simple cars and a steal nowadays for budget driving.

I hate late Escorts, well all Escorts made after 1980. And '90s Fiestas. And Kas. Had a Ka for autosolo last year. It lasted 10 mins till the engine seized.
Same with a 98 Fiesta a few weeks ago. It was such a dire car I ran it into a tree in despair.

I could set fire to any of the above all day long and feel no remorse. :D

I had a mid 90's Escort, I had it a week and the alternator belt snapped, I was nursing it home when it died completely. Left it at the side of the N7 and rang the local scrappie to come collect it, I never ever felt so releived to be rid of a car.

A cortina though, that's something I could see myself owning as a classic
