Is there a difference between solving and finding the general solution of an ODE?

I'm finding conflicting answers about this one online.

    Cheers

It depends on the kind of ODE I suppose. If you're dealing with an ODE that satisfies Picard's Uniqueness Theorem then once you've found a solution (or a number of solutions equal to the order of the ODE) parameterized by some constant(s) that can be determined from the initial conditions then you know you've found every solution - as the solution(s) is (are) unique.

Is that what you're aiming at?
