I'm a bit disappointed looking at the stars. I got a text inviting me to enter one of my heifers as she was 4 or 5 star for milk and fertility, therefore the making of a good cow (I was chuffed with myself!). Looking at the catalogue quite a few of them are poor on these 2 traits.

I think the ICBF figures for commercial sales like this are really only in their infancy. When the reliability figures are so low, some down at 5%, they're hardly worth looking at. Unless you had a heifer by a well used AI bull and her mother by an AI bull too, they're not much use.

    Any feedback on prices?

I was in the area so I went in a look. Most were 2 year old and not in calf. Nice ones were making about 1,300 Euro.
Generally, they were good breeding types, good at the hips and all that. The ICBF guy (can't think of his name) gave a short intro on the ICBf figures.
It was nice to see how the different cross-breeds were working too, as all the heifer's breeding was down in the catalogue. The Saler X Limousin was giving nice stock.
I think we will see a lot more of these types of sales with ICBF data provided. Reliability figures might improve by then too...
