(Couldn't find a thread for the film, I am starting one. Mods, if there is and I missed it, could you please merge them)

Saw it last night and I found it quite entertaining, much more interesting than what the trailer suggested.
Granted, there are various cliches and originality is not exactly it's strong point, but it has a very good pace.
I've seen a couple of the Icelandic films that Baltasar Kormakur has done, The Sea being my favourite. I'd say big change for him, although I haven't seen his previous "English" film, Inhale.

Enjoyed Contraband myself. Good solid entertainment even if a bit ott.

Not a lot to Inhale though. Watch if on tv but dont bother buying it.

Saw this today. Would've made a half decent straight-to-TV heist caper. But what a waste of two top actors (Wahlberg and Ribisi)... formulaic, rushed in places and with alot of really hollow dialogue. Practically zero character deveopment and a 'twist' that you see coming a mile off.

It wasn't terrible - but it definitely wasn't good!

The kind of film you'd watch on your day off if it was raining out.

    5/10 (that's generous tbh)

Saw it the other day myself. Definitely nothing original or groundbreaking in it but I quite enjoyed it. Some decent action and I thought Ribisi was really good in it.

As soon as I saw Ben Fosters name there was only one way this film was going.

Have to agree with that - he is very poor and unconvincing in it.

The lady who played Wahlberg's wife is a brutal actress whoever she is.

The only thing I liked about Contraband was the fact that 'Fitzy' from The Departed was in it!

kate beckinsale is the woman, decent enough actress but this film did her no favors

this film was disappointing for me, the trailers made it look very good, the story was a bit far fetched, not the worst ive seen though

I think Ben Foster is a good actor, no? Really liked him in 3:10 to Yuma and Alpha Dog anyway.

Kate Beckinsale is a good actor generally but not much use in Contraband admittedly. But she's very pleasant to look at. :o

Seen it earlier, enjoyable enough movie but nothing special. Added bonus of Kate Bekinsdale is always a plus though:D

I enjoyed Contraband. It was pretty decent for an action thriller and I'd give 6/10. Wahlberg was well fitted to the role of tough guy gone straight who now has to protect his family. The film was well paced and the story was enjoyable though I felt at times that the director tried to pack too much in. It also tested my suspension of disbelief on a number of occasions particularly
the gunfight in Panama where everyone dies except our protagonists who escape just in time to catch their ship and the loudestmobile ring tone ever
    .

Art enthusiasts might get a kick out of a good joke which was nicely carried off.

Ben Foster was very good in both of those films and he performed well in his small role in Rampart. I thought he was quite good in Contraband playing the part of Sebastian. The main problem was that the character wasn't as well developed as it could have been.

Likewise, I thought Giovanni Ribisi performed well with the role he was given. Kate Beckinsale didn't impress me but I didn't think she was all that bad. The one character I really disliked was the naive brother-in-law whose character just seemed stupid and clueless.

That gimpy little brother was ridiculously annoying, so much so I hoped they'd just kill him, which would have meant no need for the film. Have to agree with the comments about Whalberg, thought he was good in his role.
