Double VAT payment

Just a quick query. I checked my bank online this morning and it seems I have paid the VAT due for the Jan-Feb period twice... I'm not sure how this happened, to be honest. Is there a way I can apply for a refund or what is the standard procedure in this situation?

    Any help greatly appreciated!

I would think contacting the Tax office first would be the best port of call.

    They are there to assist.

Thanks. I dropped an email to the relevant department. I was just really wondering if anyone on here had dealt with it before and what was the standard procedure.

    Cheers!

    1. Phone your District Tax Office
    2. Ask for the VAT section.
    3. Have your VAT reg. no. to hand and explain who you are and what has happened
    4. They'll resolve it for you.

It could be days and days before your email gets assigned and dealt with.

I recieved a reply within the hour and was given a reference number for the problem. I had to fax over a bank statement showing the double payment and the reciept numbers issued from Revenue. Hopefully the speedy service is a sign of a possible quick resolution.
