Matt Cooper had Peter Hooton on earlier. Lead singer of the Farm and Hillsborough campaigner. He spoke in length about the Hillsborough disaster and also the disgusting Sun newspaper. Then Matt cooper finished the show after Hooton and the first advert that came on was for the Irish Sun.

Considering the fact that even most Irish Liverpool fans don't know about the sun and its revolting lies concerning hillsborough, i would not blame today fm for this particular cock up, although i agree it was very unfortunate especially following that interview.

The amount of so called reds reading that rag on the plane over is shameful.

Let me take a wild guess. A Man Utd supporter?

No a dyed in the wool Liverpool supporter who understands that adverts are paid for and have to be run.

    It's just a bit unfortunate, that's all.

Ads campaigns are sometimes booked weeks in advance. The traffic person could not possibly know what's happening on The Last Word on any given day or what part of the show a particular interview is taking place.

Likewise, Matt or his producers on a normal day would not know what ads are due to be played or really care.

If a special event was taking place then yes, there would be co-ordination between programming and traffic.

An unfortunate coincidence but that's all it was, a coincidence

Those ads are blocked booked long before the Last Word producers have arranged the guests and lineup.

Had to laugh at this guy for saying it was impossible for Liverpool fans to be drunk because it was a 3pm kick off.

    yep liverpool angels:rolleyes:

ticketless liverpool fans had a reputation at the time for rushing the gate i.e. putting pressure on ground staff to let them in

and lets not forget Heysel just 4 yrs previous

A particularily stupid comment. You must feel pretty small when you read the reply from Mike65.

The fact is that, as has been said, adverts are a necessary evil. However I think it might not be too much to expect that someone could have looked at the programme schedule and moved the advert. I am sure the brains (if there are any) at the Sun would have gladly avoided the adverse public opinion that we see on this tread, and which I am sure is felt elsewhere as well.

What thread or what forum should he bring it to? This one seems appropriate enough.

Take it to any other forum you like but here mate

Why ae you calling me mate? This is a discussion about an item discussed on the Mattt Cooper show. The topic discussed was Hillsborough. Don't see anything wrong with debating the issue in a thread about Hillsborough?
Or is it because you don't like what the poster was saying?

    What poster?

This is the series of posts and mike65 was the first to suggest that philstar take it to another thread. You appear to have reiterated what he wrote.
So in answer to your question, the poster I am referring to is philstar. Is that clear enough for you?
philstar made a post that could be seen as controversial and doesn't fit in with an accepted view of events. I however remember the time well, I also remember Heysel. In the case of Heysel, Liverpool fans claimed the trouble was caused by far right groups such as Combat 18. There appears to be a pattern of an unwillingness to accept responsibility for any part of the blame. It's not as black and white as some would like to think and make people believe.
Why Irish people get so exercised about this is beyond me.

    Mod Note:
Thread is decending into bickering and is going in circles that are far from the original topic. The OP has been replied to as being an unfortunate clash of broadcast schedule and advertising schedule. It happens.

Unless there is anything more to be said about the OP then this thread is heading to a closure.

Ray D'arcy was banging on about the household charge at length this morning and the first ad played afterwards was the threat "advice" to pay it! These things happen.
