So I bought a Kalita wave in 3FE today, has anyone any tips for using filter brew methods?

Particularly interested in recommended grind settings, I'm assuming you should use a fairly coarse grind?

I'm using a vario grinder but its currently used for Espresso also. I'm not sure if I'll be able to switch the settings between espresso and filter grinds with out losing my Espresso setting as it takes quite a while to dial in properly.

Yes first time using a pour over method at home

Well from the looks of it, starting smack in the middle seems like a good place.

You don't want it too course either or it will flow through so fast. I have typically found with a 30g/500g dose that adding all of the water within 1m30 - 1m45 with about 60 seconds of filter time is pretty reliable.

Adjust grind accordingly. There are some good videos online, but the key really is playing around with it. Filter tends to be far easier than espresso though

OK thanks, I'll probably be making 15g/250 ml more often though so should I cut all those times in half or would they stay about the same?

I've been having a problem with my grinder while trying to switch between filter and espresso grinds.

For example if I have an espresso dialled in correctly and I change the setting to filter and then try to go back to where I was previously I'll get a really coarse grind no matter how fine I make the setting.

The only way to correct this seems to be to tremove the hopper and the upper burr and thoroughly clean the grinder and dial in the espresso again.

Has any one had similar issues and if so is there anything I can do to correct this problem, to be honest given these problems I'd be less inclined to use filter at all given how much time and wasted coffee it takes to get the setting right for espresso again.

Another option would be to get another grinder but that would seem to be a bit excessive,

    Has anyone any recommendations?

Are you running the grinder whilst adjusting it from coarse to fine?

Yes I'm doing that alright but I still find I need to clean out the grinder before I can get a decent Espresso grind

So I've been having trouble locating any Kalita filter papers.

I've twice been to 3FE in the last few weeks but they didn't have any, so I eventually ordered some off of HasBean. They promplty sent out 100 but in the wrong size (155 not 185).

Any idea if I'll be able to use these in the larger model?

Hopefully I can. Also anyone know anywhere that sells these filter papers locally?

If you ask in 3fe they can order you in some.

Do the filters fit in? It shouldn't be a problem if they do, but if you ask Steve he'll replace them as they sent the wrong ones.
